Roots Open Day RV - Preliminary Exercise

Image
I was asked to work with other media students to cover the event of Open Day that our school had scheduled for other students to come in to our school and see what Roots is like. I was more than happy to take this opportunity since each event covered is more practice to being better and familiarising myself different environments and what types of shots or pictures should be used in different scenarios and the camera settings that are supposed to be used in each environment.  Below are a few shots that I had taken for our school.  Video Link: https://youtu.be/xvpMsMMrN38 Video Link: https://youtu.be/quwVddpvoTY

CCR - Question 4

Q4. How did your research inform your products and the way they use or challenge conventions?  Before the Bad Guy project, we had planned to do another song which was Photograph by Ed Sheeran which was of a completely different genre (Folk Music) but we had encountered a lot of issues with our footage due to which we had decided to simply re-shoot our project since we were not happy with the outcome. We had multiple locations for that music video but after the music video, due to COVID-19 restrictions we had to stay home and record the entire music video at home. We had used different places throughout the entire house to control the mise-en-scene of the film. For the mise-en-scene itself we had used a very budget friendly frame. We utilised a black bed sheet as backdrop for our music video and we had used red and blue gel papers on different lights so that we could have the outcome we wanted. Another inconvenience that we had faced was grains. Even though we were using a 50...

CCR - Question 3

Q3. How do your products engage with the audience and how would it be distributed as a real media product?  As per our branding, we had researched the best way to market our product and we realised that the best way to market a product of this sort was to utilise social media platforms to their full capabilities since the best artists use them to attract new consumers to their product. Keeping this in mind, during our shoot, we had recorded multiple Behind the scenes so that we would have content to post towards our social media page to build up more publicity towards our product. We had also taken multiple photos for a good poster and for the front cover of our Digi Pack. This helped us gain a lot of followers and because of multiple friends sharing our posts helped us boost our social media page. As students we knew that the best and more budget friendly way of advertising was to utilise social media platforms.  Using the social media platform (Instagram) really helpe...

CCR - Question 2

Q2. How do elements of your production work together to create a sense of ‘branding’? Starting off, The main Platform that we have used to promote our product as a brand would be on Instagram. The Page is by the name of the Studio (EclipseFilmStudios). Our targeted audience was teenagers since the music itself and lyrics correlate towards the consequences of one's actions. The theme that we had chosen for our music video itself was a mixture of 3 main colours (Red, Blue, & Black). The reason why we chose these colours is because all of them combined signify different types of psychologies for example: We used red to portray rebelliousness and give it a more exciting and energetic depiction and we had Blue to give it a more cooler tone to depict confidence and add a cooler tone to the entirety of the frame. The lyrics and genre of the song itself tie in towards the way that people represent themselves and how we as individuals are in control of how we would want to be portraye...

CCR - Question 1

Q1. How do your products represent social groups or issues?  The main concept behind our music video is that the issue that is arising is regarding the fact that there are consequences for our actions and in the song itself, the protagonist is singing about her confessions and how she wants to be portrayed as, which is what is reflecting upon the entirety of the project itself and she is giving it a sarcastic tone at the end of almost each confession to give it a more non-serious sarcastic vibe to it. The main intention behind this is for raising awareness about the control each of us as individuals have as to how we would want to portray ourselves to humanity and to ourselves. This music video shows that people might control how they would want to be portrayed but in reality it is the complete opposite. The lyrics in the song itself keep talking about how she’s portraying herself but giving it a sarcastic tone to control the influence of her words. Our targeted audience for ...
